
Search for: A skirt that slowly but surely flares out in an A creation from the natural waist to the ground, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating from the hips and thighs. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse taffeta and satin, are effective especially, given that they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will also showcase a far more slim upper body.

Remember: A vintage A-line silhouette lends itself to formal weddings, but it can be dressed down when made from a more everyday fabric also, like eyelet raw-silk or lace shantung.
