
Look for: A skirt that little by little flares out within an A creation from the natural midsection to the floor, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating from the thighs and hips. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse taffeta and satin, are especially effective, since they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will also showcase a more slender chest muscles.

Keep in mind: A vintage A-line silhouette lends itself to formal marriages, but it can be dressed down when made from a more casual fabric also, like eyelet lace or raw-silk shantung.
