
Look for: A skirt that gradually flares out within an A creation from the natural midsection to the floor, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating away from the thighs and sides. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse taffeta and satin, are especially effective, given that they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will showcase a more slim upper body also.

Remember: A classic A-line silhouette lends itself to formal wedding ceremonies, but it can be dressed down when made from a more casual fabric also, like eyelet raw-silk or lace shantung.
