
Search for: A skirt that slowly but surely flares out in an A development from the natural waist to the floor, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating away from the sides and thighs. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse satin and taffeta, are effective especially, since they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will showcase a more slim upper body also.

Keep in mind: A vintage A-line silhouette lends itself to formal weddings, but it can be dressed down when made from a more informal fabric also, like eyelet raw-silk or ribbons shantung.
