
Search for: A skirt that slowly but surely flares out in an A formation from the natural midsection to the ground, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating away from the thighs and hips. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse taffeta and satin, are effective especially, given that they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will showcase a more slim upper body also.

Remember: A vintage A-line silhouette lends itself to formal wedding ceremonies, but it may also be dressed down when made from a more everyday fabric, like eyelet raw-silk or lace shantung.
