
Search for: A skirt that gradually flares out in an A creation from the natural stomach to the floor, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating from the thighs and hips. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse taffeta and satin, are effective especially, since they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will also showcase a far more slim upper body.

Keep in mind: A vintage A-line silhouette lends itself to formal weddings, but it can be dressed down when made from a more informal fabric also, like eyelet lace or raw-silk shantung.
