
Look for: A skirt that steadily flares out within an A formation from the natural waistline to the ground, highlighting the narrowness of the midsection and floating from the hips and thighs. (Sturdier fabrics, such as duchesse satin and taffeta, are effective especially, given that they won't cling.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V neckline will also showcase a more slender chest muscles.

Remember: A vintage A-line silhouette lends itself to formal weddings, but it can be dressed down when made from a more everyday fabric also, like eyelet raw-silk or ribbons shantung.
